Bluicorn

Methodology

How Bluicorn scores an opportunity.

Every number in the product is built from named factors with fixed weights, and every score on screen can show you its own arithmetic. This page is that arithmetic.

The Opportunity Score

Ten factors, weighted to total 100, so a score reads as a percentage of the best an opportunity could be for your product.

Weights are versioned. They are a considered starting point, not a proven model, and they will change as real outcome data accumulates — at which point the version changes with them, so an old score can always be explained by the rules that produced it.

The Bluicorn Score

Your overall visibility, weighted by how much each category matters to a SaaS product. A category with nothing relevant to score is left out rather than counted as zero.

What counts as evidence

Bluicorn distinguishes four states for a competitor’s presence, and never collapses them: verified, probable, not found and unknown.

Not found does not mean not there. It means we looked and could not see it. A search result can only ever make presence probable; only fetching the live page and matching the product on it makes presence verified. Every record carries the source URL, the date it was seen and how it was found.

The same rule governs platform facts. 23 destinations are modelled in the registry with submission rules, effort, cost and health, and anything we have not independently confirmed is marked as our editorial estimate rather than presented as fact. Bluicorn does not publish traffic figures, domain authority or acceptance rates it cannot evidence.

Why the top score is not always the next move

The Next Best Move is not the highest Opportunity Score. It also weighs urgency, what the action unlocks, whether its prerequisites are met, and the hours you said you have this week. Readiness and available time are gates rather than contributors: a ninety-scoring action you cannot start is worse advice than a seventy you will finish.

What Bluicorn will not claim

  • Invented traffic numbers, domain authority or acceptance rates
  • That a platform will accept your submission
  • That a listing will produce customers
  • Competitor presence we have not seen evidence of
  • Customer outcomes, until a real customer has one
